Binatone Sucks Customer Reviews and Feedback

From Everything.Sucks

Binatone is a British-Hong Kong telecommunications company. Binatone was started in the United Kingdom in 1958 by two brothers, Gulu Lalvani and Partap Lalvani, to import and distribute consumer electronics. The company was named after their sister, Bina.

A former employee shared her experience, "If you are related to management then you can get ahead at Binatone. Being related to someone higher up means you get promoted or favoured. The company is run by SEXIST, chauvinistic men, who steam-roll over the women in the company unless they are willing to flirt and stroke their egos. Strong women make them nervous. . I have never seen such bad sexism as I did at this company. If you are a young women happy to spend some pleasure time with senior management then this is the right company for you. The company is surviving because of Motorola license, not sure how long though. I believe Motorola will someday review their deal. They 'Con' consumers by sourcing cheap products from China and rebranding under Motorola name.

However I would not wish this environment on my worst female enemy"

Former Employee - Senior Director says

"Executive team is short sighted. Lacks interest in employee growth and success. Does not invest in product development, operational excellence or product quality."

Former Employee - Global Director says

"Binatone is a family owned private business. It could not, and would not, survive as a publicly listed company or with any degree of investment where the executive board were accountable to anyone other than themselves. It's business practices are (at best) from the 1970s with an executive board made up entirely of middle aged men. Abusive language is acceptable in open forums and there is no provision for reviews or 360 degree feedback - it is my opinion that this is intentional as senior management know the degree of negative feedback they would receive. There is no development plan for employees and I have never witnessed any internal or external training for any employee in any of the company's global offices. Operating in the consumer electronics sector it is surprising the lack of investment in innovation. The standard business practice is to buy hardware 'off the shelf' and rebadge looking to cost-down in every instance to maximise short term profit with little long term planning. The app and services team have some talent but they are constrained by a strategy that pays lip-service to services, but actually is only concerned in 'nickel-and-diming' hardware sales to big box retailers and Amazon. Finally how Binatone treats suppliers is immoral and close to illegal. Commissioning work without any intention to pay is the norm and is 'joked' about in management meetings. Suppliers are only paid when threat of, or actual, litigation is involved. Even when supliers are paid it is common practice to re-negotiate (down of course) after work has been completed . I appreciate having Motorola can look good on a CV but in reality this company is toxic and best avoided. You have been warned."

Current Employee - Anonymous Employee says

"Beware that this company has a norm of using abusive language with employees. This norm catches up like a fire and even junior most employee come across rude. They have no HR policies or anything to support employees. Even few good employees are asked to take mental abuse as a joke and forget it. Their senior management consists of handful of people (btw all male). They are bullies who have stayed around for longest time and are making no wise decisions to support the growth of company."

Current Employee - Anonymous Employee says

"Poor paymasters, it's been a few times they fis not pay out any salary until it was a couple of days late into the next month. No salary increment to keep up with inflation. No 13-month payout. And no bonus. However they expect you to work hard and deliver great work. Beware! They have undergone financial struggles and see it happening again. Apart from that, company management is small minded and are illogical in the way they work. Planning to showcase products that are not even close to finish to the public so their competitors can copy their ideas. This company is nothing like companies in the real world, be in for a rude shock. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY CALLED BINATONE OR HUBBLE CONNECTED."

"Binatone is a British telecommunications company. Binatone was started in the United Kingdom in 1958 to import and distribute consumer electronics by two brothers, Gulu Lalvani and Partap Lalvani. In 1989 the company was divided, Partap and Gulu dividing the business geographically. Both then controlled their own Binatone groups operating in different parts of the world. Dino Lalvani's Binatone Communications Group is headquartered Hong Kong and has offices in London, Lummen, Indianapolis, New Delhi, Bangalore and Shenzhen. Main product categories are communication (landline, mobile), baby monitors, home monitors, pet training systems and multimedia (tablets, e-readers, GPS sat Nav).[1] These products are sold under the brands Binatone, iDECT and Voxtel and the licensed brands Motorola and AEG."
